Hi Mike,
A few weeks ago I revealed the two steps to having a successful business online. Today I am going to discuss how to find successful businesses in your niche to emulate.
Before we start, I understand that you may already be aware of some of the most successful businesses in your niche by other means. However, if you aren't sure who in your niche is really successful then follow this process to reveal some of them.
The easiest way to find successful businesses in your niche is to go to Google and type in a few of the most competitive keywords in your niche.
Take a look at the paid ads (the ones labeled Sponsored Links). Write down the URL for each ad that appears. At the bottom of the ads there might be a link that says "more sponsored links", click on that link and make note of all those URLs. Continue to do this for all the sponsored ads (you might want to print these pages out instead of making a list of URLs by hand).
Once you have a list of URLs from Google repeat this process using the Yahoo search engine.
You should now have two or more lists (depending on how many keywords you did with this) of URLs. Wait 4 weeks and repeat the above steps with each keyword.
Compare the URLs on the current list with the URLs on the first list (from 4 weeks ago). Anytime an advertiser is still advertising for that keyword after 4 weeks it means they are either making a profit selling to your niche or they like throwing money away. In other words, it is highly likely that the sites on both lists are making a good profit.
At the end of this exercise you will have a list of URLs for websites that are making a profit in your niche.
Next you are going to take this newly generated list of successful sites in your niche and find out what they are doing so you can duplicate their success. More about that coming soon!
